Mathematics Challenges

How To Help Children And Youth With Arithmetic/Mathematics Challenges

Calculates Slowly; Difficulty Organizing Information On Paper; Difficulty Understanding Abstract Concepts; Lack Of Challenge Solving Strategies; Reverses Numbers/Mixes Up Numbers;Difficulty Learning Basic Operations; Difficulty Remembering Number Facts; Gets Very Frustrated/Lacks Confidence

It appears that proficiency in math has some connection to being successful. Higher salaries appear to be paid to people who are comfortable with mathematics. It is therefore very important to solve these challenges with learning mathematics as quickly as possible. These challenges create increasing anxiety, habits of quitting, and ineffective attitudes towards learning. This difficulty can be due to a combination of: learning style/instruction style mismatch; family patterns and expectations; lack of effective family support and acknowledgement; vision challenges; perceptual challenges; anxiety; nutritional imbalances; chaotic environment; damage to the head; allergies; exposure to pollutants; inability to focus; ineffective teaching and insufficient practice; insufficient study habit instruction; inability to relax and think; a lack of hearing storybooks read every night.
