How To Help Children And Youth That Have Fallen
Hard Many Times On Head, Face, Neck Or Back Followed By Changes In Attitude, Learning Ability, Balance, Behavior
Get medical evaluation as soon as possible. Find doctors who are familiar with the practices below and follow their advice on which ones to investigate. Falling can have immediate or long-term effects on impulse control, emotions, learning ability and perception. It can affect hearing, vision, speech, reading and handwriting ability long after the event. Unchecked it can be the cause of much physical pain later in life. All of these can make learning, living and behaving harmoniously very difficult.

On Our Own We Would Try: • Long Walks/Hikes • Nature • Replace sodas, juices, sugars, fats, fast foods with water, veggies, whole grains, nuts, protein, fruit, slow food • Bedtime Stories and Chats • Wholesome Pleasures • Back Rubs and Foot Massages • Pets • Less or No TV, Movies, Video/Computer Games |
For Parents: • Take action as quickly as possible. • Without transmitting worry, keep alert to even small changes after falling. • Keep taking action until attitudes, learning ability, balance and behavior are better. • Stay optimistic. • Discourage processed food, sugars, caffeine in sodas, candy and chocolates. • Spend extra time getting easy exercise like walking, hiking, cycling. |
